Real Madrid won't rush to find a new superstar to sign after Kylian Mbappe turned down their offer to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
The club's intention is to find players who are aware of and understand what playing for Real Madrid is all about and what it means to be a Los Blancos player.
The Mbappe chapter is now closed and the club have learned their lesson. Real Madrid now know that they should not trust the word of a capricious youngster, which the Frenchman demonstrated that he is.
For now, Carlo Ancelotti's side are currently focused on Saturday's Champions League final against Liverpool in Paris.
Then, the next steps are clear. All the clubs who are willing to sell are aware that Real Madrid have a certain budget to spend in the summer, yet the Spanish side won't overpay for the first player that appears to be available in the transfer window.
Real Madrid will have a meeting after the final
Florentino Perez and Ancelotti have spoken on different occasions throughout the season about what the team will need and how to strengthen Los Blancos for next season, with everything depending on Mbappe's potential arrival.
Perez will spend the next two days in Paris alongside the team and coaching staff, so there will be no negotiations this week and talks about next season's potential signings will begin upon Real Madrid's return from Paris and before Ancelotti goes on holiday, ahead of the pre-season preparations which kick off on July 8.
Real Madrid want a midfielder and a striker
After having already signed Antonio Rudiger, Real Madrid's priority is to bring in a midfielder. This could be Aurelien Tchouameni in the event that negotiations with Monaco bear fruit.
Los Blancos will also try to sign a striker for where Mbappe could have featured in the future had he decided to join Real Madrid in the summer.
The club want to avoid repeating mistakes of the past, as they did with the case of Luka Jovic, who has hardly featured for Los Blancos after him move from Eintracht Frankfurt.
As for the loanees, although some of the them will be in the pre-season preparations, players such as Alvaro Odriozola, Reinier, Takefusa Kubo, Borja Mayoral and Brahim Diaz are expected to depart the club as they have not convinced Ancelotti.
