Betting Tips: Fiorentina vs Chivas

These two sides begin their respective International Champions Cup campaigns at the SeatGeek Stadium where we think goals will be at a premium

Having narrowly avoided relegation from Serie A last season Fiorentina kick-off their pre-season in earnest in the early hours of Wednesday morning playing Mexican side Chivas in the International Champions Cup.

The team from Guadalajara may be in better shape for the clash having already contested two friendlies in recent weeks, one each against Argentine giants River Plate and Boca Juniors.

SportPesa make the Italian outfit the favourites pricing them at 11/10 (2.10) to win while their Mexican opponents can be backed at 9/4 (3.25). The draw is available at 53/20 (3.65).

There will be plenty of eyes on Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, who has caught the attention of some big clubs across Europe. French midfielder Jordan Veretout has been left out of the squad for the International Champions Cup and is close to securing a move away from Florence.

New signing Oribe Peralta started upfront for Chivas in their last friendly against Boca and could feature once more along with Alan Pulido.

This is Chivas' debut in the International Champions Cup and there will no doubt be plenty of their supporters in attendance at the SeatGeek Stadium in Illinois.

Fiorentina are playing in the tournament for only the second time, and the first since 2015, and there is plenty of work for Vincenzo Montella and his side to do this summer.

Scoring goals became a serious problem for the Tuscan outfit last season, with Fiorentina netting just once in their last eight league games of the campaign and drawing a blank in each of their final five matches.

Chivas too had problems in front of goal in the Mexican Clausura last term, with only six teams netting fewer than their total of 21 goals.

The price therefore of evens (2.00) for under 2.5 goals looks to be an excellent option given the respective struggles of these two sides in the final third. Both teams to score 'no' is also tempting at 21/20 (2.05), while under 0.5 goals in the first half at 39/20 (2.95) should also be considered.
