Bruno Fernandez has managed to win four Premier League Player of the Month awards since he joined Manchester United from Sporting CP last January.

The Portuguese is now in pursuit of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero who has racked up seven prizes.

Since his arrival in the Premier League, no player has helped their team to more victories (20) or has participated in more goals (33, scoring 19 and assisting 14).

Fernandes won the award for the first time last February and another three followed in June, November and December.

Never before had any Premier League player been given the prize more times in the same calendar year.

His three goals and four assists in December helped Manchester United's efforts to climb up the Premier League table, where they currently sit top.

After winning his fourth Premier League Player of the Month award, Fernandes has overtaken big names such as Gareth Bale, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Son Heung-min, and Dwight Yorke.

He has also matched the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes, Alan Shearer, and Jamie Vardy.

"Scoring and assisting your teammates is perfect," Fernandes said. "I want to achieve other trophies and awards but I'm really happy to make history."

Meanwhile, only five players have collected the award more times than the Portugal international: Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney (five times), Steven Gerrard and Harry Kane (six) and Aguero (seven).
