Chelsea transfer round-up: Key decisions over defensive duo as Iheanacho linked

  /  autty

The news surrounding  Chelsea  at the moment is focused on the club pulling out of the proposed Super League following a fan backlash.

That news overshadowed Tuesday evening’s scoreless draw against Brighton which was another indicator that - despite huge progress in recent months - the side are still not quite at the top level.

There is however a mood of buoyancy at the Blues thanks to their qualification for the FA Cup final and their place in the Champions League semi-finals, while they are battling for a top four slot this season.

Thomas Tuchel will be looking ahead to the summer transfer window - his first at the club - and will no doubt be eyeing potential signings while offloading some fringe players.

Here are the latest transfer rumours from Stamford Bridge.

Milan to make Tomori deal permanent

Fikayo Tomori joined Italian giants Milan on loan in January with the club having an option to make the deal permanent this summer.

A report from Milan-based outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by Sport Witness, outlines how the Rossoneri are intent on keeping the Blues youth graduate and are even willing to sell club captain Alessio Romagnoli to help fund the deal.

The 23-year-old has made 14 first-team appearances for the Milanese giants and has struck up an impressive defensive partnership with Simon Kjaer, with the club having a €28million (£24million) option to sign him permanently.

These latest reports suggests Tomori will make his move to Italy permanent.

Sarr set for Bridge return

Chelsea signed Malang Sarr as a free agent last summer following his release from Nice but he was immediately loaned out to FC Porto.

The 22-year-old has however been limited to 19 appearances in Portugal - and just five league starts - and is expected to return to Stamford Bridge this summer.

That is according to a report in Portuguese outlet A Bola - as per Sport Witness - who say the defender has failed to impress either centrally or at full-back for Porto.

Indeed, the France Under-21 international has been playing for Porto’s B side in recent weeks.

Blues eye Iheanacho

Chelsea may be looking to land a new striker this summer with question marks over the futures of both Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.

The Blues are now being linked with a deal to sign in-form Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to a report in Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Iheanacho joined the Foxes from Manchester City in 2017 and despite struggling for minutes for long stretches, he has excelled this campaign with 15 goals and five assists in 31 appearances.

Indeed, 10 of those goals have come in the Nigerian’s last seven appearances and the report also claims Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in the player.
