D'Aversa: 'Parma have some problems'

Parma are dealing with a COVID-19 case in their staff, but coach Roberto D’Aversa has other problems against Bologna too. ‘Andreas Cornelius is out.’

It kicks off on Sunday at 18.30 UK time (17.30 GMT), click here for a match preview.

Serie A was shaken by the first confirmed positive coronavirus case since the restart, as Parma confirmed a member of their staff tested positive.

“Fortunately, the person is asymptomatic. The important thing is that they are fine. Now we will follow the protocol, have regular tests, stay in the training retreat and then we’ll see,” said D’Aversa in his press conference.

The protocol was eased so that the squad and staff must remain in a training retreat for 15 days, but still be allowed to take part in training and games, only quarantining the individual who tested positive.

“We’ll be without Cornelius tomorrow, because he has a muscular problem, but Roberto Inglese does return after a long time out. Clearly, he can’t play the whole game, but just having him with us is important.

“Yann Karamoh skipped training yesterday with a slight issue, while Gianluca Caprari remained in Rome after Wednesday’s game due to a family situation. We’ll evaluate it all tomorrow morning to decide on who to start, but obviously we’ll favour those in the best physical condition.

“If we analyse these four defeats, we aren’t doing enough in defence or attack compared to earlier in the season. We mustn’t wait for someone else to resolve the issue, but be pro-active ourselves in helping out. If we lost four games in a row, something clearly wasn’t working.

“Bologna will be fired up, as they are coming off a heavy local derby defeat to Sassuolo, despite having beaten Inter a few days before that. They have a mix of experience and youth, are very well-organised. This is the Emilia-Romagna Derby and we have to take it very seriously indeed.”
