Matthijs de Ligt will sign a five-year contract with Juventus and the €150m release clause won’t be valid until June 2022, it’s reported.

The Ajax defender landed in Turin this evening in a private jet and spoke to the official Bianconeri social media accounts.

He’ll have a medical tomorrow morning ahead of the €75m move and Sky Sport Italia maintain there’s a new element to the five-year contract.

It’s suggested De Ligt wanted the release clause included, but that it won’t be valid for the first two years.

The clause begins at €150m in June 2022, but will then climb every year to ensure it matches his transfer value as he gains experience.

It has for several weeks been reported to be worth €7.5m per season plus various add-ons and bonuses to reach his €12m demands.

De Ligt turns 20 next month and came up through the Ajax youth academy to become their captain.
