Danny Drinkwater has become the latest footballer to shave off his hair during his time stuck indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Chelsea midfielder on loan at Aston Villa took to social media where he showed off his new look on his story to his 600,000 Instagram followers.

The 31-year-old told fans of his desire to trim his barnet last week, as he claimed after three years of growing his hair, he wanted to embrace the "skin head" look.

Drinkwater started a Just Giving page were he announced money raised from him shaving his head will go towards the Salvation Army to help them during the Covid-19 crisis.

He said: "It has taken me 3 years of growth to get my hair to this length and believe it or not for me this is long!!

"I've not shaved my head since I was 25/26 so its been a long time since I had a full skin head but I want to do it for a bit of fun and a good cause, every little helps during these times of crisis.

"I have chosen The Salvation Army because they provide unconditional friendship, support and very practical help to people in need and work with children, older people and the homeless.

"I wanted any money to go to a charity that would help a number of people during the Covid 19 crisis as there will be so many suffering during these hard times."

And Drinkwater stuck true to his word, as he uploaded the finish look on his Instagram story.
