The Argentinean forward sustained an injury against Bologna last weekend and is expected to return to action against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League next week.
Martin Satriano, Edin Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez are the strikers available for the Nerazzurri.
Midfielder Mattia Sangalli, 19, joins the senior squad from the Primavera.
Stefano Sensi and Arturo Vidal remain out of action for the Serie A giants.
On Tuesday, Simone Inzaghi’s side beat Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and have 13 points from their opening five Serie A games.
They can go to the top of the table with a win against Atalanta today, waiting for Napoli vs. Cagliari tomorrow.
