Inter outcast Joao Mario has slammed the club’s treatment of him. “Inter paid €40m for me and treated me like a kid. It was despicable.”

The Portuguese midfielder is currently on loan at Lokomotiv Moscow from the Nerazzurri following a failed stint in Italy.

Joao Mario was one of the first major signings of the Suning era at Inter, joining for €40m in the summer of 2016.

However things didn’t work out, and he was sent on loan to West Ham in January 2018.

He returned to Inter and played sporadically throughout the 2018-19 season, before going out on loan again to Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow this season.

Speaking to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Joao Mario slammed the club’s ethics.

“I could not train or play in friendly matches like everyone else,” Joao Mario told the newspaper.

“I trained alone with Mauro Icardi. I don’t understand their position, because Inter paid €40m for me and treated me like a kid. It was despicable.

“I found a less stable club than Sporting CP; a lot of confusion, change of coaches, a badly prepared season.

“I’m sorry that much more happened off the pitch than on it.”
