At the end of the match against Italy at the San Siro, Inter midfielder Joao Mario, who had a good performance, commented on the outcome of this match which allowed his Portugal side to progress to the final stages of the UEFA Nations League.
Here is what he had to say to Sport TV:“We have challenged an excellent team, we knew it would be a difficult match. They were better than us in the first half but during the second half we rebalanced and managed to get an important point. In a competition like this you never think about a draw, we faced a very difficult opponent and got the qualification. We know we will face great teams and it will be difficult to win this competition, but we will do our best.”
For Joao Mario, this was particularly an important game as it was played in Inter’s home stadium.“The San Siro is my home here in Italy, I was very happy to play here in a Portugal jersey.”
