Merih Demiral underwent reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and suture of the lateral meniscus of the left knee.

Juventus release a statement on their official website: "Earlier this evening, Merih Demiral underwent reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and suture of the lateral meniscus of the left knee.

The surgery, performed at the Hochrum clinic in Innsbruck by Professor Christian Fink, in the presence of the Juventus' Dr. Tzouroudis, was perfectly successful.

The time required for an optimal recovery is 6-7 months."

Demiral had scored the opening goal during the 2-1 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, but followed Roma star Nicolò Zaniolo off the pitch on a stretcher with a torn ACL.

The Turkish defender had recently pushed summer signing Matthijs de Ligt out of the starting line-up at the Allianz Stadium and was rumoured to be a transfer target for a host of clubs across Europe this winter.
