Milan all-change in midfield

  /  autty

Milan are expected to start Lucas Paqueta, Leo Duarte and Lucas Biglia in tonight’s must-win game, while Genoa bring back Andrea Pinamonti.

It kicks off at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT), click here for a match preview.

Rossoneri Coach Marco Giampaolo is hanging by a thread after four defeats in his first six games, with talk in the Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport that Gennaro Gattuso could return to the bench.

Mateo Musacchio is suspended following his red card against Fiorentina, while Mattia Caldara is injured, so summer signing Leo Duarte gets his first start in defence, having made his debut as a substitute last week.

Theo Hernandez is the favourite to retain his left-back slot, although there is pressure from Ricardo Rodriguez.

The biggest changes are in midfield, where Hakan Calhanoglu is set to be benched after starting all six previous games, making way for Brazilian Paqueta, who has recovered from injury.

Biglia also returns in place of Ismael Bennacer, with Franck Kessie the only man keeping his spot.

In attack, Suso and Rafael Leao should flank misfiring Krzysztof Piatek, who hopes to rediscover his scoring touch against his old club.

If Milan are struggling, then Genoa’s situation is no better and Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli could be sacked if he doesn’t win this weekend.

Antonio Barreca is unavailable due to injury and should make way for Marko Pajac in a 3-5-2 formation.

Andrea Pinamonti, an Inter youth product, is the favourite ahead of Antonio Sanabria and Goran Pandev as partner for Christian Kouame upfront.

It’s a special game for former Milan defender Cristian Zapata, while ex-Ajax midfielder Lasse Schone pulls the strings as well as providing danger from set plays.

Genoa (probable): Radu; Romero, C Zapata, Criscito; Ghiglione, Schone, Radovanovic, Lerager, Pajac; Kouame, Pinamonti

Milan (probable): G Donnarumma; Calabria, Duarte, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Biglia, Paqueta; Suso, Piatek, Leao
