Paris Saint-Germain could already be preparing for life without Edinson Cavani amid interest from Atletico Madrid and the man they have reportedly targeted to replace him is Juventus' Gonzalo Higuain.

The French club are looking for someone to compete with Mauro Icardi in attack and the Argentine is a target, alongside alternatives such as Fernando Llorente, Olivier Giroud, Dries Mertens and Krzysztof Piatek.

The news comes from L'Equipe, following up on previous interest in the forward in 2018 when a deal could not be struck with the Italian club.

There were doubts about Higuain's future in the summer, but Maurizio Sarri has given him regular game time and he has scored eight goals in 26 games this season.
