Cesare Prandelli believes it would be “madness” for Fiorentina to sack Stefano Pioli - “only patience is needed”.
The former Italy CT was on the Viola bench before taking that job, and he assessed the current situation in an interview with La Repubblica.
“It would be madness,” Prandelli responded when asked about rumours Pioli could be sacked.
“Stefano is an excellent Coach, and it’s normal that such a young squad will encounter difficulties. Only patience is needed.
“The only advice I’d give is that maybe [Giovanni] Simeone needs someone closer to him. But I’m sure he’s working on it, and I believe in him.
“In these difficult moments real players step up, this team has soul and it’s only goals that are missing. But they’ll come.”
Prandelli also offered advice to one of the Viola’s young stars.
“Chiesa should become a symbol of Fiorentina and the national team. Look at Bernardeschi. Yes, he’s at Juventus, but he doesn’t start much.”
