Salary row halts Yildiz-Juventus 2030 renewal amid big-club interest

Kenan Yıldız, the star of our national team and Juventus, is on the radar of many clubs in Europe. Juventus, eager to keep the 20-year-old, whose performances have attracted considerable attention, has been in talks with the player for some time. However, according to reports in the Italian press, these talks have stalled.

National Team striker Kenan Yıldız has taken the number 10 jersey at Juventus and continues his excellent performances. He has made 97 career appearances for Juventus across all competitions. In those 97 appearances, the 20-year-old has scored 19 goals and provided 15 assists, contributing directly to 34 goals.

Signed free from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 at the age of 17, Kenan Yıldız quickly became the new face of the Italian giants. Considered Del Piero's heir apparent and donning the number 10, Kenan has demonstrated his quality in both Serie A and the Champions League this season. Having signed a contract with Juventus in the summer of 2024 until 2029, he earns €56,000 per week.

The issue surrounding Yıldız's new contract with Italian Serie A giants Juventus has not yet been resolved. While Juventus wants to keep the national team player, European clubs continue to insist on a transfer. The necessary agreement between Comolli and the Turkish player's agents to raise Kenan Yıldız's salary to the level of the big players has not been reached. Only Elkann's intervention can resolve this situation. The following statements were included in La Gazetta Dello Sport's report:

'TALKS HALTED'

"The final step, the decision-making process, proved more complicated than expected. Juventus and Kenan Yıldız were unable to reach an agreement. His contract renewal until 2030 has been suspended and is now in the discussions phase. No agreement has been reached on the figures and some contract terms. So much so that a happy ending is no longer a certainty, as it was a few weeks ago. The number ten's signature has never been more at risk. After months of negotiations, discussions, and meetings, general manager Damien Comolli and the Turkish playmaker's team decided to halt negotiations following their recent summit."

Rather than accepting a longer and different new contract than planned and desired, the star appears poised to continue his journey with his current salary (€1.7 million plus bonuses), which ranks 19th on the club's salary list.

The star was aiming for a deal that equates his financial status with his technical status. However, it's not the 12 million net salary of Dusan Vlahovic, the highest-paid player on the squad, but something similar to the 6 million salary of Jonathan David, the first signing of the Comolli era. The difference between the offer and the demand is around €1 million per season. A small difference on paper, but enough to jeopardize the deal and the future, and to attract the attention of Europe's major clubs.

Chelsea offered €67 million last July and appears poised to compete with Real Madrid and Arsenal next summer. The 20-year-old Regensburg player, released by Bayern Munich in 2022, could be worth over €100 million if an auction between the superpowers takes place next summer.

Despite all this, the Turkish player has been hard at work in recent weeks, prioritizing the struggling team. He's put his inflamed knee, which needs some rest, on the back burner. This is concrete proof that contract negotiations haven't affected the rapport between the player and the club. The star has always been deeply committed to Juventus. While he's shown less of this recently with his goalscoring (he's scored three goals this season, the last of which came from a penalty against Udinese), he's shown even more so with his leadership during the period when results were at their lowest and Igor Tudor and Luciano Spalletti took over as manager.
