Pescara have secured their place in Serie B for next season, sending Perugia into Serie C, but it took penalties to decide this relegation play-out.
The Delfini had won the first leg 2-1 on home turf and were beaten by the same result at the Stadio Curi on Friday evening.
Manuel Pucciarelli had put Pescara in front after just 15 minutes, but Perugia turned it around through Christian Kouan’s header on a corner and Federico Melchiorri, again from a set play.
This made it 3-3 on aggregate, so they went through extra time and still could not be divided.
Relegation was eventually decided on penalties and Pescara emerged 4-2 winners.
