Simone Inzaghi is set to surpass Edy Reja as the Coach with the sixth most appearances on the Lazio bench with 132.
When Inzaghi takes to his seat, it’ll be his 132nd competitive match in charge, leaving behind Reja on 131 games.
This puts the former striker sixth in the all-time record books for the club.
He sits behind the legendary Scudetto-winner Tommaso Maestrelli on 183, with Delio Rossi fourth on 184 matches.
Sven Goran Eriksson, another Serie A title winner with the Biancocelesti, is third with 188 games.
Juan Carlos Lorenzo amassed 196 on the Lazio bench, but Dino Zoff remains the record-holder on 202.
Inzaghi made his debut as Coach of Lazio on April 5, 2016, putting together 72 wins, 24 draws and 35 defeats.
He had originally been working with the Primavera youth team, but was promoted as interim manager – and then given the permanent role – after Stefano Pioli was fired.
It seemed against the odds that Inzaghi would last so long in Serie A with Lazio, as the club had tried to replace him with Marcelo Bielsa in the summer of 2016, but El Loco’s refusal to turn up after signing the contract prompted a last-minute rethink.
As a player, Inzaghi had 201 competitive games in a Lazio jersey, scoring 58 goals.
Meanwhile, Lazio fans are banned from travelling to attend the Napoli game this weekend due to security fears, as there is a bad history between the ultras.
The situation has been further inflamed lately, as Lazio are twinned with Inter, so the Boxing Day clashes which saw several injured and an Inter fan killed when hit by a car create the possibility of reprisals.
Lazio ultras are planning to wave goodbye to the squad at the train station on Saturday, but meanwhile are snapping up tickets for the next home game against Juventus.
A club spokesman confirmed over 20,000 tickets were sold in just two days, with well over 40,000 expected to be in attendance.
