Marek Hamsik said Napoli “did our job and we’ll do it again at Anfield” after beating Red Star Belgrade 3-1, as the group remains wide open.
A victory here would’ve been enough to book a spot in the Round of 16 if Paris Saint-Germain had failed to beat Liverpool, but that game at the Parc des Princes ended 2-1.
“We are having a great group and have to play it to the end. Liverpool are tough, but we’ve proved we can beat them and I think it’ll be a spectacular game at Anfield,” Hamsik told Sky Sport Italia.
“At the 90th minute, people started celebrating in the stands and we thought it was a positive result, but that wasn’t the case. We did our job, now we’ll do it again at Anfield.
“The goal for me was the icing on the cake. I changed position, do more defensive work and therefore score fewer goals. I do what the Coach asks and it’s always a pleasure to score a goal.
“We’re disappointed to only draw both games with PSG, but not many expected us to be top of this group after five games. It depends how you look at it.”
