Zappacosta showered with messages from ex-teammates after leaving Chelsea

A number of Chelsea teammates new and old jumped to Zappacosta's Instagram page to wish him luck on his latest venture after he was pictured with the famous Roma shirt…

Will he be missed? Well, we're sure there's a particular seat on the Stamford Bridge bench that'll be lost without his warming company, but we'd be lying if we said we're going to be lost without him. We're sure he's a lovely guy though.

Jorginho: “Go Friar good luck”, David Luiz: “Good Luck Friar…”

Marcos Alonso: “Glad for you Friar, miss you already”; Cesc Fabregas: “Congratulations machine. Good luck!”

Willy Caballero: “Let's go, Zappa…”

Zappacosta's humorous little nickname “Friar” presumably refers to his unfortunate thinning crown (if you've seen it, you'll know).

Zappacosta's Chelsea experience has come to a temporary end.

The 27-year-old managed just 52 appearances in all competitions, only half of which came in the Premier League, despite signing for £23m under Antonio Conte two years ago. A deal was recently announced that he would join Roma on an initial six-month loan deal with the option to extend until the end of the season.
