Arsenal to rival Napoli for Newcastle star Saint-Maximin in summer (Le10Sport)

For the first time in a while, things are looking relatively healthy on the pitch from an Arsenal point of view.

The Gunners produced a big performance to win 2-0 at Wolves, lifting Mikel Arteta’s team back up to seventh in the Premier League and just three points behind Saturday’s opponents in the race for European football.

That hasn’t changed the need for reinforcements over the summer, though, and the Arsenal we see at the start of the 2020/21 season could well be very different from the one currently putting together a string of results to leave itself in decent shape for the future. Here’s the latest on the transfer front.

Newcastle United playmaker Allan Saint-Maximin has been one of the Premier League’s most impressive newcomers this season, and it’s no surprise to see clubs testing the water, with the Magpies unlikely to play in Europe next season.

According to French publication Le10Sport, via The Mag, the Gunners have approached Saint-Maximin’s representatives in an effort to get a feel for his availability. However, they’ll face competition from Napoli, if the reports from France are to be believed.

Saint-Maximin has been Newcastle’s standout performer since a summer move worth up to £20million, completing more dribbles per game than every Premier League player aside from Adama Traore (per WhoScored) - but his long-term deal may mean his team has no need to cash in.
