This is the moment that Arsenal's deadline day signing Jorginho met his new boss Mikel Arteta for the first time.

Arsenal completed the signing of the 31-year-old in a deal worth £12million, with the Italian midfielder putting pen to paper on an 18-month contract at the Emirates.

While the signing sparked outrage among some Arsenal fans who had geared themselves up for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo to join, reports have emerged that the players and staff are excited by the midfielder's trophy-winning experience.

Arsenal posted footage of the latest Arsenal signing being warmly embraced by his new manager.

As the pair greeted each other, Arteta can be heard saying: 'Welcome, my friend. You happy?'

The Champions League and Euros-winning midfielder replies: 'Yes, I can't wait to get started.'

After Arsenal had announced the signing, Jorginho revealed that Arteta had been very influential in bringing him to the Emirates.

'He [Arteta] was a big influence because I know that he tried a few times to get me before and it didn't happen due to other reasons, not because of my wishes. So of course, he had a big influence,' Jorginho said.

'I'm very excited for this new challenge, and I just can't wait to be on the pitch to be honest! Everything has happened so fast. I was a bit surprised, but I took the opportunity of this amazing challenge.

'It's an important shirt. It's an amazing club, a big one, and I'm really excited and happy to be here.'

Meanwhile, Arteta said: 'Jorginho is a midfield player with intelligence, deep leadership skills and a huge amount of Premier League and international experience,' he said.

'Jorginho has won in his career, but he still has the hunger and huge willingness to contribute here.

'We are so pleased to sign Jorginho and welcome him and his family to the club.'
