Chelsea to offer Eden Hazard new £300,000-per-week deal (Mail)

Chelsea will try again to persuade Eden Hazard into signing a new £300,000-per-week deal as part of a plan to secure the futures of their top stars.

Hazard has held talks over a contract extension but is yet to agree terms. Those talks were put on hold over the summer as Hazard focussed on the World Cup with Belgium.

Likewise, the forward was eager to see if Real Madrid or Barcelona would make a concrete offer for him.

Hazard is understood to be keen on a switch to one of Spain's elite clubs.

But Chelsea have made clear their intention to keep Hazard, despite the uncertainty over his contractual situation.

Hazard has just under two years on his current deal, but plans to extend his contract will now be revisited as matter of urgency.

However, it remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old is willing to put pen to paper on fresh terms in the immediate future.

Hazard is understandably keen to play in the Champions League again after Chelsea's failure to qualify for the competition this season.

Should the Blues look in danger of missing out on a top-four place under Maurizio Sarri, then Hazard may try to angle for a switch.

The club are also keen on extending N'Golo Kante's deal in the coming weeks. The France international has proved a huge hit since joining from Leicester in 2016.

Kante still has just under three years left on his contract, but Chelsea want to avoid any uncertainty over his future by signing him to an extension. Likewise, Willian is also in line for talks over a new deal.

Though not a current priority, it is understood Chelsea have the intention of opening talks with Antonio Rudiger, who has established himself as a key member of Sarri's plans, over an improved deal.

But the fact the defender's current deal doesn't expire until 2022 will see Chelsea focus on securing the futures of Hazard and Kante.
