Henry 'makes contact with Man United' for midfielder Fellaini for loan

Marouane Fellaini could be set for a switch to Ligue 1 side Monaco, after manager Thierry Henry reportedly made contact with Manchester United to arrange a loan.

Henry wants to bring in the powerful midfielder for the remainder of the season, as his side look to battle for survival and retain their place in the French top flight.

Monaco have made their initial move for Fellaini, but there is no word on whether the player would be open to a move, as report France outlet RMC.

Cesc Fabregas recently completed the switch from the Premier League to join up with Henry's side, and Fellaini could be the next to follow.

After a poor start to the season under Leonardo Jardim, Monaco currently reside in the relegation zone.

Sitting in 19th place, three point currently separates Monaco from Amiens who sit just safe in 17th spot.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently confirmed Fellaini would be out for a month with a calf injury, which could hinder any potential move.

The 31-year-old trained all week with the rest of the squad and would have hoped to have been in contention to feature against Brighton this weekend but has now been ruled out after sustaining an injury.

United boss Solskjaer admitted on Friday the midfielder, who has played just 31 minutes in the six games of his reign, is now set for an extended period on the sidelines and could miss some crucial games coming up over the next month.

Solskjaer said: 'He'll probably be at least three or four weeks. He's got a calf problem and that's sad.

'There's X-factor in different players and we all know Felliani's X-factor. Then again he'll be working hard to get back in when all the big games are coming as well.'
