Jesse Lingard transfer latest as Man Utd midfielder left to decide his own fate

Jesse Lingard has not yet made a decision over his Manchester United future, while his representatives reportedly continue to offer his services to clubs in England and across Europe.

The 27-year-old started just nine of United's Premier League games last season and is linked with a move away before the window shuts on 5 October.

Lingard has entered the final year of his deal at Old Trafford, though the Red Devils have the option of extending it for a further 12 months.

The Englishman has seen his role diminished in recent seasons and the arrivals of Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek have caused him to slip further down the midfield pecking order.

United are willing to part ways with the squad player as they look to free up transfer funds but they are yet to receive a formal offer for Lingard, according to  Sky Sports  .

The Carrington academy product made his first appearance of the season in the Carabao Cup tie at Luton Town on Tuesday, playing the full 90 minutes as United won 3-0.

While Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was impressed with the performance at Kenilworth Road, he cannot assure Lingard of first-team minutes.

As such, Lingard's future is thought to be in his own hands as he weighs up how to earn his place back in Gareth Southgate's England squad.

He has not featured for the Three Lions since the UEFA Nations League finals in June 2019 and faces an uphill battle to be selected for the Euros next summer.

When probed over his future in July, Lingard insisted he would be "patient" and "wait for my opportunity" at United.

He added: "Like I say, I've been at United for so long and I love it and I'll keep on loving it. I train with a smile and go in with a smile because it's my job and I love what I do and I love the club as well."

Lingard has made 208 appearances for United across all competitions, scoring 33 goals since his debut in 2014.
