Man City transfer round-up: Grealish ‘rethinking’ move as Barcelona duo linked

Manchester City are yet to sign a player this transfer window - but it may not be long until they do.

The Premier League title holders are expected to flex their financial muscles this summer with some big-names on their radar.

However, even with the departure of club legend Sergio Aguero, Pep Guardiola is yet to bring in a new face to his already star-studded attack.

Harry Kane has been heavily linked, but he isn’t City’s sole target ahead of the new season.

Guardiola and co will travel to Tottenham Hotspur in three weeks’ time after the curtain-raiser against Leicester City in the Community Shield eight days prior.

And the City boss will be hopeful of having at least one new addition on display when the new campaign kicks off.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest transfer news at the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish ‘rethinking’ transfer

Jack Grealish may be rethinking a transfer to Manchester City, according to talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old is said to be impressed by Aston Villa’s summer transfer business after Emiliano Buendia arrived from Norwich City, while Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey is now being linked.

On top of that, the lack of guaranteed game-time at the Etihad Stadium could be why Grealish is now reassessing his potential switch after being disappointed with his minutes for England at Euro 2020.

"Manchester City were very confident they would be able to get a deal done, £100m the fee," reporter Alex Crook said.

"But I think he’s been quietly impressed with the business they [Villa] have been doing...

"It’s not as clear-cut as it was a couple of weeks ago."

Griezmann makes transfer decision

It feels like 2018 all over again.

Antoine Griezmann has reportedly made a decision on his future, dealing a blow to City in the process.

The Frenchman has allegedly told Barcelona he would only agree to leave the club to return to former side Atletico Madrid.

Griezmann has been strongly linked with a departure from the Nou Camp this summer as the Catalan giants desperately seek to cut their wage bill so they can tie up Lionel Messi's future.

But any hopes City have of signing him could now be scuppered, as according to Barcelona-based publication Diario Sport, the forward has made it clear to the powers-that-be that he will refuse to leave unless it is to re-join Atletico.

The 30-year-old played for the club for five years between 2014 and 2019 and has recently been linked with a return via a swap deal with midfielder Saul Niguez.

City and rivals monitoring Moriba

Both City and Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Barcelona starlet Ilaix Moriba after talks of a new contract reached a watershed moment.

The 18-year-old midfielder, labelled ‘the next Paul Pogba’ has been removed from Ronald Koeman's first-team squad amid negotiations.

Sport claim the Spaniard is upset by the decision as the Blaugrana will not allow him back until his future is sorted out.

And Fichajes report that the Champions League finalists are the frontrunners to sign him after Manchester United and RB Leipzig were linked.

It's thought City have shown the strongest interest, with talk of a contract offer worth around £5.2million-a-year.

Moriba's contract runs until the summer of 2022 and his release clause is set at around £86 million
