PSG 'to launch raid on Barca' for Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Barcelona midfielders, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets, according to Sport.

The French champions have been seeking a midfielder all summer but have failed to reach agreements for the likes of Paul Pogba, Miralem Pjanić and Ngolo Kante, each of whom were on their radar.

Only last summer, PSG made a successful signing from Barcelona in the shape of Brazil forward Neymar, who joined for £200million.

Barcelona don't want to sell either player so it will fall down to the individuals should any potential move occur.

They have recently agreed a new deal with Busquets  taking the Spaniard up until 2021. In addition, he will have an improved salary and a release clause of about £179million.

He has made over 310 appearances since graduating from the B team in 2008, and has won in that time three Champions League titles and seven La Liga trophies.

Rakitic enjoyed a brilliant World Cup this summer helping Croatia to reach their very first finals of the competition and picking up a runners-up medal.

The 30-year-old renewed his contract with Barcelona last year which keeps him at the club until 2021, like Busquets.

Rakitic made a move to the Camp Nou from rivals Seville in 2014, and has since then played 135 times, netting on 21 occasions.

He is reportedly happy at the Catalan side but despite having a release clause of £112millon, isn't one of their biggest earners.

PSG boss, Thomas Tuchel, has midfield issues of his own after Adrien Rabiot failed to agree terms on a new contract.

There is less than two weeks left before the European transfer market closes for any potential deal to be reached.
