Ernesto Valverde hasn't utilised Ivan Rakitic in his team much throughout the 2019/20 season, and whilst the Croatian has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou, he has made clear his idea is to stay with the Blaugrana.
Rakitic has enjoyed great success during his time in Catalonia, with the former Sevilla star an integral part of Luis Enrique's side which won the Champions League in Berlin, however his future at the club has looked unclear since last summer.
"My idea is to stay with Barcelona," Rakitic explained in an interview.
"You never know, what I want is to play and enjoy my football.
"I think I have a lot to give and I want to give a lot if I can play, for me there is no better place than Barcelona right now."
With Monchi back in place at Sevilla, there has been suggestions that the Spaniard would like to bring Rakitic back to Andalusia, and this isn't an idea Rakitic is dismissing out of hand, with his options still wide open.
"We'll see, if the time comes to be able to speak to them then everybody knows that I would be delighted," he added.
"If I ever was to return to a club then it would be Sevilla, hopefully this can happen one day.
"I'm glad to see how the club is growing, their results and how they are much stronger with every year, that fills me with pride and people already know that my dream would be to wear the Sevilla shirt once again."
When pressed on whether he could envisage himself at home with Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, Rakitic was far less committal, even though he returned to the starting XI in the match on Sunday.
"These are things that only time will tell," he intimated.
"Atletico are a great club, who yesterday showed everyone they are a team who fight for titles, and that is what I want.
"I want to fight for everything and to help my teammates, but if that can be at Barcelona then there is no better place."
