Real Betis are set to appeal the red card shown to Giovani Lo Celso against Real Sociedad with the hope of the Argentine returning for the Copa del Rey quarterfinal first leg against Espanyol.

The Argentine was given a second yellow card in the closing stages at Anoeta for what the referee perceived as time-wasting.

Betis coach Quique Setien was infuriated by the decision, making his feelings known in the post-match press conference.

The legal team of the Andalusian club are now set to appeal the decision, according to Alfinaldelapalmera.com.

The midfielder, on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, has become a key part of Setien's team this season and Betis are hoping to have him back for the first leg of the cup quarterfinal against Espanyol on 24 January.
