Manchester United loanee Chris Smalling has allegedly made his mind up and hopes to stay at Roma beyond the current campaign.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims the defender has expressed his will to stay at the Giallrossi and sporting director Gianluca Petrachi tries to extend his loan deal in the Italian capital.

The Roma director has reportedly presented an extension of the current deal for €3m but a permanent move could still be possible.

The 30-year-old is tied to United until June 2022 but was sent out on loan ahead of the current campaign.

So far, he has appeared 21 times in Serie A for the Giallorossi, sitting fifth in the table, and has contributed two goals and one assist from his centre-back position.

The newspaper writes that Roma are currently working on deals for Everton forward Moise Kean and Talleres striker Nahuel Bustos as well.
