Hello, everyone! This is AF Channel. Here we offer you something to discuss, debate or games to play!
Being an effective coach requires more than the ability to teach the player football skill, it also requires to build a strong relationship with them, each individual is unique and has a different style of playing. different players respond to different motivations.
If you were a coach, how would you keep a good relationship with players?
We will invite some AFers who have made some awesome comments to speak their voices out in this column. The distinguished guests today are: @NASSEB12, @tropicalda, @AkintemiJosiah, @KINGLMD10S, @whykallar, @amoasahderick
Here are some selected comments from AFers for the last topic: How to stop racism in football completely?
Start by educating the footballers themselves about racism and how not to attach each other on the field. When players on the field start to act differently towards the ref and each other then the supporters will react the same. A game like Barca and Real is a perfect example. Also talk about how one should celebrate a goal or a win, don't do it to insult the supporters.
It’s truly disgusting that racism still happens in football today, how is it possible that we turn a sport of love and joy into hate. disgusting
To stop racism in football FIFA should do points deduction would be a far more powerful disincentive for abusive supporters also to give them fine and to deny them home advantage for two fixtures is seen as much more likely to hurt supporters and club revenue.
Peace and love to every football fan in the world and let's kick out racism and abuse in football. Let's respect and not judge players or fans in the game.
Football is the beautiful game but sadly, yet truly, each time a player or team is attacked racially, the game looks less and less beautiful.
Please, kick out racism. The colour of the skin does not make us better or worse but it makes us diverse, beautiful and special. Without diversity, life would make no sense. We must strive to be colour blind, not with our eyes but with our hearts. Say no to racism.

Firstly both the players and the coach need to have a very good and clear understanding between each other... The coach should be able to understand where a player plays best (that is, where he plays with absolute freedom)... Moreover coaches need to control the kind of words they utter to players.. For example the the relationship between mourinho and pogba got so bad that mourinho labeled pogba a "Virus"... In front of his teammates, That's so wrong and I'm sure that's one of main reasons for pogba underperforming... If it was me in Paul's shoes I wouldn't even want to see mourinho's face.... But problem solved. Players need to also understand the coach's opinions and try to adapt to it even if it doesn't suit their style... The coach should ensure that at least everyone in that football family (players, staff, most especially the fan's, are happy with the decision and tactics /lineup he makes for every match.... Lastly the most natural thing that can keep a good relationship between the player and the coach is to keep SMILING with each other although sometimes things don't go their way... Ole gunnar solsjear can teach you how to smile if you don't knw... Thanks for reading

Relationships are the foundation of coaching and even though a relationship is a two-way street, it’s the coach’s responsibility to pursue a real relationship with their players. Coaches hold a place of respect and authority, but still feel reachable enough for athletes to open up and view their coach as a role model or mentor. The challenge of coaching is balancing rationale and logic along with empathy and emotional awareness. A strong coach-player relationship is important not only for the athlete’s growth as a positive, ethical and moral person, but for the team’s performance as a whole.

relationship demands hearts more than guts, players are humans not machines they tend to be emotional than tactical, a manager should be aware of the players emotion, Quality and fitness I think most managers forget about the emotion part because they are caught up in their own ego to build a reputation for themselves which will distant them with their players but they should atleast try to be emotionally attached to them, imagine your boss telling you what a fine job you are doing and how indispensable you are ... therefore, a manager needs to know his players very well in order to succeeded

by understanding the player......and a player should blindly belive his coach if his coach has the capability to transform him......player should also show his coach that he is making efforts and he (player )belives on him (coach)

AFY First of all i like to thanks AF for selecting me as one of the guesses, but i like to apologize for been late to comments, busy day for me 😀 Well it's easy and slso difficult to keep perfect relationship with players as a coach, nobody is perfect, in short what I'm trying or what i like to say here is, not easy to build a institution without any other thing intercepting, we as human may think we are doing our best to do the right thing, yet not everyone will appreciate it. If i was a coach, I'm always going to encourage my players to do their best, most especially communicate with them regularly on and out of the field, help to build respects among them, make them to feel free to ask me questions, likewise they could even invite me for dinner or i do the same, but one thing here as we all need to know is, in every good relationship, there must be rules that help to build up the relationship, and is through abiding by these rules of the relationship build up a better relationship, as we all know discipline goes with rules, if you break the law, there's always consequences, even at home or everywhere people will always do worst and good things, don't expect perfect always, Been a coach it's my responsibility to bring and unite my players in having a good relationship with them, i will treat them like my children, friends and family, make them to feel relax and be open with them, but if anyone don't appreciate my kindness at all, it's my duty to discipline them. The fact here is, managers suffer a lot them players, they take in most blame then players, a player is signed today and after signing, he will aways take his salary complete without any deductions, even he play well or bad, or they give bad results, they will always receive their complete salary without any deductions, only bonuses will be left out, but when it comes to coaches they always get sacked for bad results, making it not fair to coaches. So been a coach, i will do everything to build up a very good relationship with my players, but if any players go beyond, i will discipline them, because it's part of my job, if i failed to give good results i will be sacked, and no players is going to get sacked with me, infact teams don't sack players Discipline build every institutions, because it's the last options, even yours child/children in the house need to be trained, Every organizations for that matter has a head/leader, and it's their duty to respect the leader, likewise a leader should respect it self. So we must understand that coaches take most responsibilities then any players, likewise a coach has the right to discipline his players when he/she refuses to follow the rules, if a coach don't discipline the players that break the rules, others will follow and start misbehaving. My views if i were a coach to build a good relationship with my players. Thanks AF.
