Roberto Firmino took a significant step into the Liverpool history books with his late winner against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, but it seems it was his celebration rather than the goal that captured imaginations.
The Brazilian came off the bench score what could turn out to be a crucial goal in their opening Champions League group stage match, sealing a 3-2 win over one of the favourites to win the competition.
His strike was all the more impressive because he had suffered a horror eye injury in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Tottenham last weekend and he made sure everyone knew with a fitting celebration.
After shooting low into the net, Firmino ran into the corner with a calm demeanor and placed his hand over the afflicted left eye. While the rest of Anfield rocked, he looked like the calmest man in the stadium.
The reaction on social media was typically huge with Firmino's face mocked up as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and another making a composite to make it look like he was completing an eye test.
It was also suggested that Firmino was the best Brazilian player on show at Anfield on Tuesday night, a clever reference to the fact that Neymar was on the losing side. Neymar has typically been cast as Brazil's shining light for years, but he was far from his best on Merseyside.
A presumably Dutch follower, @VirtuousVan, believes Firmino's goal celebration should be considered the 'greatest of all time'. He's obviously never seen Colombia score a World Cup goal.
Another who could not help but wax lyrical over Firmino's celebration was his own manager Jurgen Klopp. The German, who feared his star striker would not be fit to play following the eye injury, says his goal and celebration showed his character.
Klopp said: 'I loved his goal celebration. To come off the bench after his injury at the weekend is incredible really. I can't say enough good things about Bobby.'
The win allowed Liverpool to top their Champions League group as Napoli drew with Red Star Belgrade in the other match. In what many are calling the 'group of death', last year's finalists are already looking good to make it to the knockout rounds.
