OTD in 1996, David Beckham made his England debut in a 3-0 WCQ win over Moldova

During his 13 years as a senior England international, David Beckham experienced some incredible high moments, as well as some bitter lows.

The adventure started for Beckham 23 years ago today in the less-than-glamorous surroundings of Moldova's Stadionul Republica, where he was handed the first of his 115 caps by new England boss Glenn Hoddle.

It was an important World Cup qualifying fixture for England, which also marked their first outing since being beaten on penalties in the semi-finals by Germany as hosts of Euro '96.

Later, he became the Three Lions' first player to score at three separate editions of the World Cup.
