Phil Jagielka has claimed he did get the ball with a 'honest, strong tackle' on Wolves' Diogo Jota after being shown a straight red card for the challenge.
The Everton defender was sent-off in the 40th minute for the lunge on the midfielder during the 2-2 draw at Molineux on Saturday.
Jagielka posted on Instagram to give his thoughts on the tackle and the Toffees' first Premier League game of the season.
He wrote: 'Well done boys for a battling performance! Congrats to @richarlison for ⚽️⚽️ on your debut.
'As for me I had a bad touch then tried to make up for it with a honest strong tackle, in my eyes I made a good attempt to get the ball (which I did) and I also can see I got player after.
'Gutted to be sent off but proud of the performance of the boys! COYB.'
