West Ham's Michail Antonio slapped by Ogbonna after equaliser vs Liverpool

Michail Antonio struck a blow to Liverpool's title aspirations... and then was dealt one himself on Monday night.

The West Ham winger scored their equaliser as the hosts came from behind to draw 1-1 with the Premier League leaders.

And amid the jubilant celebrations at the London Stadium, he was on the receiving end of a playful slap by his team-mate Angelo Ogbonna.

The latter's action sparked amusement and bemusement among football supporters on social media in the aftermath.

@callum_james_ wrote: 'Ogbonna practically assaults Antonio. Nothing says well done more than a sharp slap across the chops.'

@msalims189 commented: 'Gets his back broken and then Ogbonna decides it'll be nice just to give him a good ol' thwack on the face.'

@grim_reaper23x found the incident hilarious by writing: 'Damn that slap loll' [sic] alongside a crying laughing emoji.

Meanwhile, @jide_o was in disbelief at what had occurred querying: 'Did Ogbonna just slap Antonio? #WHULIV,' alongside a meme of puzzlement.

Prior to the playful slap, Antonio celebrated his goal by perfoming the Gangnam Style dance - a song and dance move that swept the world in 2012.

And seven years on, @blundenm8 believes that dance has had its time as he wrote: 'Antonio deserved that slap from Ogbonna, how's man doing the gangnam style dance in 2019.'
