Chelsea are set to sign Frankie Terry, John's nephew

For Chelsea fans of a certain vintage, the Blues just do not look the same without Terry playing at the heart of the defence.

The good news for those fans is that they may not have to wait much longer to see the famous name synonymous with the club back on the Stamford Bridge pitch.

That is because Frankie Terry, nephew of Chelsea's most successful captain ever, John, is currently on trial with the club at their Cobham base.

@RisingBallers also report that a fee has been agreed for the 18-year-old defender with his current club Colchester United should the Blues opt to sign him.

Frankie is the son of John's brother Paul, who played in the Football League for Yeovil Town and Leyton Orient, and he bears a striking resemblance to his dad and uncle.

John isn't his only famous uncle either. Frankie's mother is the sister of former Fulham and Liverpool left back Paul Konchesky, who was capped twice by England.

But if there are any tips young Frankie needs as he embarks on his career at Chelsea, he'll need to look no further than uncle John, who made 717 appearances for the club between 1998 and 2017.

The 41-year-old, currently taking a break from the game after three years as Aston Villa's assistant manager, won 15 major honours as Chelsea captain, including five Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Though he is yet to make his professional debut, Frankie has featured in Colchester's first-team squad this season and starred in their FA Youth Cup win over Arsenal in December. He has spent time on loan at Isthmian North side Maldon and Tiptree.
