Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes signs Manchester United youngster

Manchester United youngster Shola Shoretire has been signed by Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes, joining team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo in now being represented by Polaris Sports.

Shoretire, who turned 18 earlier this year, has shared the news on his Instagram page, uploading a screenshot of Polaris Sports announcing their latest addition. The Lisbon-based agency is a leading company in athlete image rights representation, being in the market for more than 15 years, representing some of the most successful athletes and sport personalities across the globe, including Bernardo Silva, Ronaldo and former United striker Falcao.

The move suggests that Mendes, who has had close ties with United over recent years, is a big fan of Shoretire's talent. The youngster, who joined United at the age of just nine-years-old, has made five first-team appearances for the club so far, with his most recent coming on the final day of the 2021/22 season against Crystal Palace last month.

Posting a welcome message to Shoretire on their Instagram page, Polaris Sports said: "Presenting a new star @sholashoretire. Welcome to the team."

Shoretire has screenshotted that post and uploaded it to his own Instagram Story. He has also uploaded an image of him signing his contract and one of him posing with Mendes, with each of them displaying a thumbs up.

Mendes, who is considered as one of the most powerful agents in football, represents a rich pool of talent across the world, including Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, Liverpool star Diogo Jota and new Arsenal recruit Fabio Vieira. Shoretire's link-up with the Portuguese could now serve him well in his attempts to continue climbing the rungs on his career ladder and become a regular fixture at Old Trafford.
