Dortmund goalkeeper makes 'worst mistake ever' with air kick as Bayern run riot

As Borussia Dortmund fell 4-2 to German giants Bayern Munich on Saturday, there was only one thing on fans' lips after the top-of-the-table clash.

As Thomas Tuchel took control of the Bavarian side for the first time and returned to Germany to take on his former side, he couldn't have asked for a better start to his tenure.

The former Chelsea manager won't have believed his eyes when he saw the first goal as Dayot Upamecano tried to pick out a bending run from Leroy Sane, , which seemed simple enough for the away side's keeper. But when Gregor Kobel went to clear the ball from his box he made little to no connection with the ball and ended up kicking the air instead.

Before the ball had even crossed the line in the 13th minute, the German keeper had his head in his hands as Sane chased the ball in case it suddenly veered off track.

But the blunder was just a sign of things to come as two goals from veteran Thomas Muller and one from Kingsley Coman saw the home side go 4-0 up. Dortmund managed two consolation goals through an Emre Can penalty and an added-time goal from Donyell Malen.

Fans couldn't help themselves as they shared their glaring opinions on Twitter of the stinker from Kobel.

@Fs_BVB wrote: "Kobel, That's unforgivable…"

"Kept dreaming over and over again that Kobel actually cleared the ball away," tweeted @RaeComm.

@Theconstokeke didn't hold back. They said: "I'm just watching the Dortmund game and Kobel should just retire after that performance. Imagine building up to play this title decider and your keeper pulls that s***."

@Ross_UTD tweeted: "Kobel Jesus Christ man that's one of the worst mistakes I've ever seen."

Following Bayern's win, it leaves them top of the Bundesliga by two points on 55, with Dortmund falling behind on 53. Underdogs Union Berlin remain in the race on 51 points after 26 games played.
