Former Manchester United star Nani has found himself on the lookout for a new club once again after his spell at Adana Demirspor was cut short.

Nani, 37, spent eight years on United's books before leaving in 2015. Since then he has played his club football in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Australia and the United States, as well as two spells in the Turkish Super Lig.

His latest stint saw him move to Adana in the summer of 2023. He signed a one-year contract, with an option to extend it for another 12 months, but his time in Turkey has been brought to an immediate end.

He scored four goals for the club, the last of those coming in March in a victory over Sivasspor.. However, he is now on the lookout for a 10th club of his career after leaving before the final week of the season.

"I would like to announce that I have amicably terminated my contract with Adana Demispor Kulubu with immediate effect," Nani wrote in a statement posted to social media. "I would like to thank the fans for all their support. I will now consider the next steps to take in my playing career."

In response, one fan encouraged Wrexham to take a punt on the veteran. "Might be worth a shout. What do you reckon @VancityReynolds," they asked, tagging owner Ryan Reynolds in the rpost.

A number of supporters of other clubs attempted to make the case for their respective sides. There were even a couple who urged Nani to "come home" to Manchester United some nine years after his Old Trafford exit.

Earlier this season, Nani told Mirror Football he believed he was capable of emulating former United colleague Ryan Giggs and playing until the age of 40. “If I keep fit and continue to be professional, the way I have been until now, I think I've got a chance," he said. "I would love to reach that age and to still be playing.”

Nani might not be the only big name player to have made his final appearance for Adada Demirspor. Italian striker Mario Balotelli is out of contract with the club this summer, and a red card in Sunday's defeat to Gazientep means his league campaign is over.

There is an option to extend Balotelli's deal for a further year but there has been no word at the time of writing as to whether that option will be taken up. The 33-year-old has seven goals in 16 outings this season, having missed a chunk of the season due to knee surgery.

With two games of the season to go, Adana Demirspor sit 11th in the table. They're safe from relegation despite losing 6-1 over the weekend, but have no chance of qualifying for European competition next season.
