Andy Robertson was lucky to escape a red card for this lunge on Spurs new boy Japhet Tanganga - with fans certain he should have been sent off.
And comparisons were drawn with Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's horror challenge against Palace, which was given a red.
Liverpool surged 16 points clear with a 1-0 win in North London but were lucky to end the game with 11 men.
Reds star Robertson went in studs up for his 66th-minute challenge on Tanganga but the tackle was not referred to VAR.
Aubameyang was initially given a yellow for his infringement but the punishment was upgraded to a red.
And irate social media users were complaining the same should have been done for Robertson, even if he did appear to make contact with the ball first.
One said: "VAR's inconsistency is unbelievable, that foul by Robertson looks almost similar to the one that earned Auba a red card earlier this evening.
"Amazed that it’s not even been reviewed. This can end up breaking your shin and seeing off your career very easily."
Another posted: "Two challenges in the same day. One is reviewed and a red card given, the other not even looked at.
"Both high, both reckless and both studs in the air.
"Wonder why VAR didn't look at the latest one by Robertson."
A fellow user wrote: "Will @FA or @premierleague look at it retrospectively? Will they hell!"
One comment read: "One of these challenges was overturned to red. Similar tackles. Not even looked at from Robertson. No consistency with the VAR."
Another said: "Andy Robertson takes out the same sort of tackle as Aubameyang but of course VAR isn't going to check that. I've had enough for today."

It is shocking that VAR didn't even check. Why they didn't check was to give undue favour to Liverpool.

It was just a mistimed tackle from Robertson whereas Aubameyang went in with intent to end the Crystal Palace player’s career. That’s the difference between the two tackles.

Liverpool are top of the league no doubt because of their hardwork, not because of VAR, but VAR is making many decisions in their favour though it may not impact the match as much

life had taught me that people will always want u in situations were they'd tell u sorry keep it up someday u ll get there, but deep down they want u worse than u are. so they can always keep making mockery of u. it obvious Liverpool seem to have bottled last seasons lead and lost the league to the joy of rival fans, the made up for it with international triple and at least the memes were halved but this season the jinx of 30yrs is to be broken and the pain is already excruciating for our detractors and critics who keep digging faults in our victories, but alas the aren't no God this yrs is for Liverpool and no damn devil will stand in that way. DESTINY CAN BE DELAYED NOT DENIED.

I wonder why, this is why I like Arsenal coz it's like everyone is against us, we use our on effort to fight in a game, not working with refferee. win or lose I am the Gunners, with or without I am the Gunners

They are not the same. Andy had the ball and he hit the ball and his foot was higher than the opponent's. His studs rake the opponent's in the follow through but it was not a reckless challenge. He won the ball first.

i dont see it.. auba went in for a tackle and accidental or not.. studded a player dangerously. Robertson's tackle wasnt even a tackle. technically he had the ball and got the ball first. lucas basically tackled him and in thw process got studded. i think aubas could have been a yellow but on replay accept the red. Robertson's should have been a yellow ar the very most. on replay. id have given a foul. not sure why the ref let play continue.

A dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle late or timely. This is professional football. Certain actions can't be taken at all because they can injure a player or put the name of the game in disrepute. Let's be objective please.

Can Liverpool fans be objective for once and be mature for once. Everone knows the league belongs to Liverpool this season because they have worked really hard for it fir the last few seasons and deserve to be where they are. A red card for Robertson yesterday wouldn't change Liverpool's destiny this season. It amazes me to see the way the supporters think people want the red card because they are jealous.....really?? Liverpool have not won the league in 3 decades so where is the jealousy coming from?? All that football fans want is for more consistency, nothing personal against Robertson (a wonderful modern fullback) and nothing personal against Liverpool

please let's always talk with our sense.why will a player want to end his fellow career?for what reason?are they paying him from his salary or what?.
