Erling Haaland has seemingly revealed he will wear the No 9 shirt at Manchester City.

The Norwegian striker moved from Borussia Dortmund this summer in a blockbuster £51million deal which represents one of the biggest moves of the transfer window.

Haaland was one of the most highly coveted players in Europe after scoring 86 goals in 89 games in all competitions during his three years with the German side.

Although a period of adaptation is expected, the 21-year-old hotshot will expect to slot straight into City's first-choice team after the departure of Gabriel Jesus.

Brazilian forward Jesus completed a £45m move from City to Arsenal on Monday - and it now appears Haaland will take over the No 9 shirt that Jesus has vacated.

Videos and pictures released on social media show Haaland posing with a 'Haaland 9' City shirt and signing the number as part of his autograph.

Footage on Twitter shows Haaland shaking hands with a fan, holding up a City shirt and then turning it round to show the back, with his name and number emblazoned prominently.

He then posed for photos - later posting a picture from the interaction on his Instagram story with an eyes emoji.

Journalist Tom Young tweeted: 'Has Erling Haaland just confirmed that he is wearing the number 9 for Manchester City next season? It looks like it. EH9.'

Entrepreneur Albert Beniflah then posted a 30-second video of Haaland on his Instagram page, signing a City shirt, with the caption: 'Thank you my Brusjan! @erling.haaland.'

The video shows Haaland signing another 'Haaland 9' shirt, adding his autograph, before finishing with a flourish and adding the number nine inside his signature.

Manchester City are also poised to lose forward Raheem Sterling to Chelsea for £45million.
