Serie A side Como thrashed Lens 9-1 away from home on Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase, setting a new record for the largest away margin of victory in Champions League history.
Since the Champions League was reformatted in season 1991/92, Como are the 1st team to score 9 goals away from home. They are also the 1st to score eight, as no team had previously scored even 7 on the road.
The Champions League’s official social media account posted that Como had equaled the largest winning margin in the competition’s history.
Previous Champions League matches won by an eight-goal margin include Liverpool’s 8–0 victory over Beşiktaş (November 6, 2007), Bayern Munich’s 8–0 win over Malmö (September 30, 2015), and Real Madrid’s 8–0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb (December 8, 2011).
Including the European Cup era, Feyenoord were the last team to score 9 goals away from home in the competition, doing so in 1971, 55 years ago.

From the winning streak of Como both in Laliga and champion League shows Fabregas may of been the only player who kept a file of his coaches in arsenal and master's Guadiola tricks and he's now using those tricks as Como coach. I did not only enjoyed the goals but trilled with field play by 11 well-oiled players. Kudos

Lens coach is a goner. I think Como wanted to stop scoring but Lens pissed them off by scoring that 1 goal 🙄

Cesc Fabregas may end up becoming the next Josep Guardiola if care is not taken. This guy is damn good with his philosophy. The first line up, the substitution and the entire team's tactics is simply amazing. Well done Fabregas 👍💯❤️💪🇳🇬

Though Fabregas never won any global individual accolade as a senior player to vividly cement his name in the record books, he's now done it as a coach. Once destined for greatness it shall come to pas
