Jan Vertonghen admitted he has a landing spot in his head as he looks to announce his next club having left Tottenham after eight years in north London.
The Belgian's contract, which was initially extended to run through to the end of the extended 2019-20 season, ended after the draw away to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Vertonghen, who made more than 300 appearances for Tottenham, is yet to announce what is next but did reveal he has a place in mind should it all fall into place.
'That will be out sooner or later,' he told talkSPORT when asked about his next move.
'Just considering the options now and making a good choice. The window is longer now and we have a bit of time to get the right option.'
As a free agent with an immense amount of experience, Vertonghen is not expected to be short of offers but whether any can keep him in the Premier League remains unknown.
'It all depends,' he added. 'I have got something in my head so we will see if that comes or not.'
There is interest from Italy, particularly Antonio Conte at Inter Milan, while in England, a free agent of Vertonghen's calibre is likely to generate a lot of interest.
It was a disappointing season for Vertonghen on the back of reaching the Champions League final the previous summer under Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino was eventually sacked and replaced by Jose Mouirnho and Vertonghen's minutes did not increase much as he watched from the sidelines.
But reflecting back on his time at the club, fan-favourite Vertonghen added: 'I will miss them (the fans). I had a great time, made a lot of friends and learned a lot of things both off the pitch and on the pitch. I will miss everyone, it's been a great ride and it could have lasted longer but it is time for now.
'I can be quite disappointed some times but it was my task to train hard and respect team-mates when I wasn't playing or on the bench.'
Team-mates were quick to praise the legacy and impact of Vertonghen when his departure was confirmed.
Harry Kane said on Instagram: 'Wish nothing but the best for @jvertonghen and @mvorm with whatever is next for them. Been a pleasure sharing a dressing room and playing with them both.'
Vertonghen's Belgium team-mate Toby Alderweireld said: 'Sad to see these two amazing guys leaving the club, both great players but even better persons. We shared countless moments that I'll never forget. Wishing you all the best for your next steps. Keep in touch.'

He's better than all our defenders but will be past his prime soon. I'd rather sign Aké.
