Man United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo spoke to the club's official media ahead of the Champions League match against Roma.
He discussed the team's recent slump in form, how he feels after returning from injury, his views on Roma and what a return to the Champions League means to him. He also thanked the fans for their support.
Reporter: Kobbie, it's been a tough patch for Man United recently. How determined are you and the rest of the squad to turn things around and correct the mistakes you've been making?
Mainoo: Yes, we are very determined. At a club like Man United, we always face intense scrutiny when results are poor. But we are just one win away from turning things around, and I think that win will come today.
Reporter: The weekendโs result was disappointing, but it was great to see you back on the pitch. The fans started cheering as soon as you stepped onto the field. What does returning from injury mean to you?
Mainoo: Yes, it means everything to me. Being away from the pitch and only being able to watch the team from the sidelines was really tough. Just being back out there is a good thing, whatever the result. But now we need to win.
Reporter: Facing Roma in the Champions League will be a tough challenge. How would you assess their performance so far this season?
Mainoo: Yes, they've had a very good start to the season. We know they are very dangerous, but we are dangerous too. We have to believe in ourselves, and the whole team needs to stick together to get the win.
Reporter: Looking back at your growth and development over the years, what does it mean to you to be a key player in the squad now, playing in the Champions League under the floodlights at the Theatre of Dreams?
Mainoo: Yes, being back in the Champions League is like a dream come true. But now the key is to focus on the game at hand. We have to treat it like any other game, even though it is a big one and crucial to our whole season. We have to go out there and perform as we should.
Reporter: Finally, is there anything you'd like to say to the fans before the big match?
Mainoo: I want to thank everyone for their continued support. We will need you behind us again tonight.
