Spurs fan fury at club website as tickets sell out for 1st game at new stadium

Tottenham fans have been left furious after tickets for the first game at their new stadium against Crystal Palace sold out rapidly amid issues with their website.

A small batch of tickets were left available after season ticket sales and the first wave of public-sale tickets were made available on Monday for the clash against Crystal Palace, which will take place on April 3.

Thousands had been sold within the first 30 minutes on Monday and there was a similar struggle to get hold of tickets for the 62,000-seater stadium on Tuesday.

Many waited hours in an attempt to get hold of tickets before being told after queuing online that they had sold out.

They then took to social media to complain about the club's website failing to keep up with the demand for tickets — and other flaws in the ticketing system.

Ian Mitchell wrote: 'Tottenham fans wait almost 2 yrs for the first game at the amazing new stadium.

'But the club sells tickets in a free-for-all where those that signed up yesterday have the same chance as members of over 20 years like me. No ticket, gutted.'

@Stu_M11 added: 'System is a farce. Over 2 hrs wasted this morning!! Managed to get on about 0930 for it to kick me out back to please wait screen. Sat at about 5% remaining on the wheel for an hour and a half. Shambles.'

'2 hours of this and then find out it's sold out! System is a joke!,' wrote Keano FI alongside an image of the waiting screen.

@Tom_Hide said: 'It's disgusting. What time do you need to log on to get a ticket!'

'Another day, another Tottenham Hotspur ticket sale. Yet today they’ll be 150,000+ of us going for a mere 6000(ish) tickets. This is going to get very annoying, very quickly...,' said Toby Bilton.

@Con_Lancs wrote: 'Fuming, sold out. People paying less money for a membership than me getting a ticket ahead of me.

'Pointless, devalued membership. Will it be like this for all games moving forwards!?'

On Monday, one of StubHub's regional sites listed two tickets for £1,100 for the Premier League fixture.

Spurs are aware of some people trying to sell on their tickets for the first game at a huge profit and have warned of severe action.

Tottenham have advised against the use of resale websites, saying in a statement on their website above a list of webpages: 'All the websites below are unauthorised sellers and SHOULD NOT BE USED to purchase any ticket to Tottenham Hotspur matches.

'Supporters will pay well above the original price for the tickets and you could be refused entry to the stadium or ejected. Many tickets sold by unauthorised agencies or by touts have been obtained unofficially and are therefore invalid.'
