Chelsea news: Frank Lampard looks set for a sensational return to the Blues on an interim managerial basis
Chelsea look set to conclude their initial search for an immediate managerial appointment with club legend and former boss Frank Lampard to return in a caretaker role. According to The Guardian, the Blues have opened talks to appoint the 44-year-old until the end of the season on an interim basis and he could be in charge for the weekend clash with Wolves.
Lampard returned to manage the club he played at for 13 seasons in 2019, but saw a mostly disappointing spell end in January 2021. Thomas Tuchel subsequently came in and won the Champions League that same season, but Lampard did play a crucial role in several Cobham graduates receiving first-team opportunities, such as Mason Mount and Reece James.
Since his dismissal from Chelsea, Lampard managed fellow Premier League club Everton helping them avoid relegation in the 2022/23 season. However, the Englishman was sacked by the Toffees earlier this year after a troubling run of form.
During Tuesday evening's clash with Liverpool, Lampard was spotted in the stands at Stamford Bridge and it now certainly looks likely his presence was discuss terms to become Chelsea's temporary manager. The news comes as quite the surprise to many Chelsea fans while rival supporters are certainly big advocates of Todd Boehly's surprise decision.
@LloydCanfield - Welcome back, Super Frank
@eatsleepchelsea - Makes a lot of sense for both parties! In this mad season, something that actually makes sense in the short term.
@the_nomad_post - The most Chelsea thing to do
@willreyner - I don’t know what to say
@UtdActive - I speak for all fans that I hope he's very successful so that they give him the permanent job.
@mrmack73 - This is amazing……… for the rest of the league!
@Mac__James - So much for ending the season strongly, what a strange appointment
@ollie576 - Lads you should have just stuck with potter till the end of the season
@official_khene - Good news. At least I’m taking 3 points off them

Frank can not do anything to lift Chelsea from 11th position. I think the new owners for doesn't know what they doing wright . coaches with alot experience are main ,. Why can they look somewhere else for a good coach ? Big clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, man city, Liverpool, spurs are not to be coached by upcoming managers to make CVs; are to be coached and win something at end of the season

Todd boehly is meant to destroy Chelsea because it's carrying Abrahamovic blood aah
it's the correct decision bcoz no top manager would like to take over a team which doesn't play like a team. Football is about coordination and understanding and it takes tym for players to adjust to the coaches tactics thus no coach would like to experiment and ruin his reputation.

Yeah! you got a point there bro, but sometimes the greatness of a coach depends on the trophies he won. So when it comes trophies, Zidane won 3 Champions League and 1 La Liga. PS: I am not sure about my stats.😃
Yes you also got a point but zidane can’t be a great coach like Carlo and monriho and pep and Klopp who won multiple cups in different countries, they went to a place where they are not comfortable!! Zidane should get a club apart from madrid and boss it!! He is scared of a new challenge

And clubs think that an icon player from their own club can be a great coach. Just because you were a great player doesn't make you a great trainer. Not every coach is a Zidane. One of the best player, Maradona was a failure when it comes to coaching. Never heard late Pele being a coach, Pirlo, just an average coach, so is Lampard, Stevie G or Scholesy.
