Tottenham Hotspur Official Announcement
We are delighted to announce the signing of Martin Dubravka.
The experienced Slovak international goalkeeper will officially join on July 1 after his contract with Burnley expires.
Martin said: "This is an exciting time for me. My family and I are about to embark on a new journey, and I am full of anticipation for it. "
"The transfer process moved very quickly, and I am genuinely thrilled to be here. Over the years, I have followed Roberto's teams closely and am very familiar with his tactical style, team-building philosophy, and I also know that there are incredibly passionate fans here. "
"Tottenham Hotspur is one of the top clubs in the Premier League. I can't wait to meet the team and get started with training."
Sporting Director Johan Lange said: "We are delighted that Martin has joined the club. "
"He is a goalkeeper who has proven his ability in the top league, and his outstanding character and professionalism will strengthen the squad. "
"Martin combines on-field experience, leadership qualities, and consistent performance, which perfectly aligns with our current team-building direction."
Head Coach Roberto De Zerbi said: "I am very happy. Martin is a goalkeeper with rich experience in major competitions and strong mental fortitude. "
"He possesses qualities I highly value and can bring balance, leadership, and a competitive atmosphere to the dressing room."
Martin comes from a family of goalkeepers; both his father and grandfather were goalkeepers. He began his professional career at his hometown club Žilina, steadily progressing through the ranks, helping the team win the Slovak Super Liga twice and reaching the Champions League group stage for the first time in the club's history in the 2010/11 season, setting a club record.
In January 2014, he transferred to the Danish team Esbjerg; he then moved to the Czech First League to join Liberec, where his impressive performances attracted the attention of traditional Czech giants Sparta Prague, and he transferred to that team in July 2017.
He has excellent saving abilities and is also proficient with his feet in distribution. In January 2018, he joined Newcastle United on loan, making his debut in the Premier League; he performed brilliantly in the Magpies' last 12 league matches, and permanently transferred to Newcastle that summer.
In the following two seasons, he cemented his place as the team's starting goalkeeper, making 88 consecutive Premier League starts, and won the North East Football Writers' Association Player of the Year in 2018. After the 2019/20 season, he became the Premier League's top shot-stopper with 140 saves throughout the season, and was named Newcastle's Player of the Year.
In the 2022/23 season, he had a brief loan spell at Manchester United, winning a League Cup winner's medal; after returning to Newcastle, he won the Premier League Save of the Month award in January 2025.
In March of the same year, he once again won the League Cup, helping Newcastle end a 70-year domestic trophy drought. He started both legs of the semi-final against Arsenal, keeping two clean sheets, and was a key contributor to the team's victory.
In August 2025, Dubravka transferred to the newly promoted Burnley after seven and a half years at Newcastle. He played 35 games out of 38 league matches that season, and in October against Wolves, he made a spectacular save, once again winning the Premier League Save of the Month award.
At the national team level, he has made 60 international appearances for Slovakia, making his senior national team debut in May 2014, and has since participated in two major tournaments, Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.
Welcome, Martin!
