David Beckham swapped Miami for Clevedon Town AFC on Wednesday night as he made the surprise visit to the Somerset club to watch his Romeo play for Millfield Under 18s.

Beckham's new MLS franchise Inter Miami are gearing up for their first game but the former England captain took some time out from preparations to watch his 17-year-old.

Clevedon Town AFC uploaded a picture of Beckham with the club's U18s following the match.

The caption read: 'David Beckham it was an absolute pleasure having you watch our U18s tonight.

'The boys were made over you took the time for a photo. Massive thanks to Millfield for the friendly and all the best guys.'

The clash was re-arranged from Monday and adults were charged £3 to attend the fixture.

Clevedon Town came out as 5-3 winners and a post on the team's Twitter page read: 'Result!! Clevedon Town U18s (5) vs (3) Millfield U18s. Big thank you to @millfieldfoot for the fixture, we wish you all the best for the season.

'On another note it’s not everyday you get to meet David Beckham, great photo with the squad. Great evening well done all involved.'

Bristol City's player loan manager and club ambassador Brian Tinnion wrote on Twitter: 'Nice to see David Beckham here tonight @ClevedonTownFC watching his son Romeo playing for Millfield school and he is good.'

Beckham's Inter Miami kick off their debut MLS season with a trip to Los Angeles FC on March 1 but play for the first time against Philadelphia Union in St Petersburg on Saturday.

This week the side trained at their new £50million complex for the first time.
