There is a reason Perez ensure the Veterans are around aleast one season after a young star is signed. Did it with Mercelo even while on the bench, Benzema, Modric, etc. They teach these kids how to navigate these kind of situations, and the tradition will continue.

If DeBruyne asked to be subbed after 112 minutes of play, I can totally understand because it could be due to his work rate and ground covered. But Halaand? I can't wrap my head around it because he sometimes has lesser touches of the ball than a goalkeeper.

Every team has a strategy. Man City is the "Possessive type" ... with the philosophy "hold the ball, then you wouldn't have to defend". Madrid, in such situations, gives you the possession and relies on counter-attacks with swift forwards... We saw the swiftness in the game. You cannot condition your opponent play as you play.  At the end, winning is what counts.

man city had 2 games to go through. they didnt win any of them and were lucky to get 2 random longshots into our net. Madrid scored an early goal and shut the game up because why play open play when you are leading. this is UCL not some exhibition. Then Man City got again lucky goal in after deflection and penalties showed us the winner.
