In the second round of the World Cup group stage, Colombia will face the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ahead of the match, Colombian legendary striker Falcao, serving as an ESPN commentator, analyzed the opponent. He believes this African team's tactical style is similar to that of Uzbekistan and reminded Colombia to maintain sufficient patience during the game.
Having not made the World Cup squad, Falcao is participating in tournament coverage as a guest analyst. Discussing the upcoming match, he stated: "The Democratic Republic of Congo's tactical system is very similar to Uzbekistan's. They usually don't press high; if they can't quickly win back possession in the attacking third, they immediately retreat to form a compact defensive line. Their first match, where they drew against strong Portugal, proves their defense has considerable strength."
In his view, this style of play will test Colombia's attacking patience and ability to control tempo. "This is very similar to how Uzbekistan played against Colombia. Colombia must find space through continuous movement and changes in tempo," Falcao pointed out.
He further emphasized that the key to victory lies in the attacking players' flexibility and ability to stretch the defense. "You must constantly pull defenders out of position to create attacking space and generate threats for teammates."
