Güler: We accept all external criticism and hope to prove ourselves with our performance

Güler spoke to the media after Turkey defeated the United States 3-2 in their final FIFA World Cup group stage match.

In the end, we won, but this tournament ends here for us. Although it's a disappointment, we've found hope again two months from now when we return in the fall. We're also pleased to see everyone regaining their form.

I'd like to say a few words about something I heard before the match. Some of you mentioned that I seemed sad and not in a good mood. I want to clarify: I understand all the criticism from outside. It makes sense, and I accept it. After hearing it, I want to respond. Of course, every upcoming match is an opportunity for us to prove ourselves and make our fans happy again. I hope we can do that.

What we wanted to express at the time was that everyone was discussing this criticism. Some of it went beyond reasonable limits, and we were simply concerned it might affect your mood. That's why we spoke from a protective standpoint.

The criticism isn't unfounded, because I played poorly, and none of us performed well. So, no matter what outsiders say, we have to accept it. We can't dismiss it just because we're disappointed. The reality is that we played poorly and were eliminated, so whatever they say is valid. I hope we can address these shortcomings in the upcoming matches.
